Needn't have worriedI walked in, told him I had been diagnosed with recurring major depression, and I needed meds. He didn't question the diagnosis. He didn't require medical records. He didn't say, "Aww, too bad, suck it up." He didn't say, "Oh you're in too bad a shape for me to deal with. You've got to see a psychiatrist."
He did ask me what meds have worked in the past. He did ask me to go over my symptoms very briefly. He gave me samples of Cymbalta (my drug of choice) to last a month, and asked me to reschedule then to make sure I don't have nasty side effects this time, etc.. He also gave me a prescription for trazodone - an antidepressant with sedative qualities - to take at night to help me sleep.
To top things off, I had my appointment, prescription, and samples...and had even taken my first pill...all before my scheduled appointment time!
All I can say is whew.
