A new high score...and a trip to the ER.

Darcy just had to outdo herself. She doesn't like to do anything halfway, you know. It's all or nothing. She went to bed with her fever under control last night, and woke up just before 11:00 sporting a fancy new 104.6 degree fever.

She already had ibuprofen in her system, so I gave her a dose of Tylenol, and we waited just a little while to see if it would help. It didn't. Off we went to the ER, where we waited an hour and a half to even get checked in! Ughhhhhhhhhh! By that time, her temp was a nice healthy 105.2 degrees. She outdid herself again!

This child...let me tell you...is amazing. She was laying on a double seat chair in the waiting room moaning and crying and complaining she can't sleep. (As well she should!) But the moment the nurse called her name, she stoodup, walked over to the nurse, and told her her name, and that she'd been waiting a long time, and that she is very sick. With over a 105 degree fever! When her brother was sick a week and a half ago, he started halucinating at 103.2. He couldn't walk at 103.2. And here Darcy is, two full degrees warmer, and she not only walks, but tells the nurse exactly what's wrong, and complains about the wait!! What a kid!

Anyhow, after a throat swab, a nose swab, an x-ray, and two or three examinations, it was determined that she does, in fact, have the flu. Influenza type A, to be more specific. No pneumonia. No strep. No ear infections. No bronchitis. Thus, nothing for us to do but treat the symptoms. Poor kid!!
