Off we go to the pool!

Ahh, summer is here, and the pool is open, and live is good. Ok, it could be better - and it will be - once the two younger kids learn how to swim!

Honestly, they're doing GREAT. P was terrified of water - even just taking a bath - in October when we got him. Now, he's putzing around the entire pool (it's 5' at its deepest) as long as he has his floaties on.

D loves water. She'll "swim" all day long in the bathtub if you'll let her (and if you keep warming the water up). The pool, though? EGADS! You would have thought we'd asked her to jump off a cliff the first time we asked her to get in the pool! LOL Keep in mind, that was only the 27th of May. Now? Now, as long as she's got her floaties on, she'll go anywhere. She'll put her face in the water. She'll ask (over and over and over and over) for us to hold her underwater until she can touch the bottom of the pool with her feet. Whether she's wearing floaties or not, she'll leap off the side of the pool into the water - TOWARD either Daddy or me, and I don't think she really cares if we catch her. She knows to hold her breath, and as long as we know she's coming, we'll pull her back up if we don't catch her. I'm glad she has that much trust in us!

A is a fish. But we knew that before taking him to the pool. We spent the entire summer at the pool the year before last, and last summer, he spent a good portion of his time in the neighbor's pool.

It's nice to be able to take them to the pool. It's something I enjoy doing, and it wears them out. Plus, I always feel like maybe, just maybe, I'm a good mommy after all, when we come home.

On a completely different note, I created a seperate journal for some of my "poetry". I put that in quotes, because to a lot of people, what I write isn't poetry at all. I realize that it's juvenile in its composition, and I'm ok with that. It's the kind of stuff that I like, and I don't write it for anybody but me.
